I grew up in rural Monmouth County, NJ, before the housing boom of the late 60s and explored the uncharted woodlands long before hiking trails were commonplace. This gave me an appreciation of the wonders of nature. After a lifetime of taking "snapshots", I have finally returned to my roots and, camera in hand, am exploring again. Although my usual 'hunting grounds' are the back roads and parks of my native Monmouth County, my camera accompanies me on all travels and all subjects are likely to end up in my camera and on my website.
Although I've always had the desire to create art, and channeled it in many directions, the idea of using photography for that purpose didn't manifest until the purchase of my first digital SLR camera. Shooting with my Canon Rebel XT, and later with my XTi, using various lenses, the journey of discovery in learning how to use it for different results and effects, have created in me a real need to capture the beauty in the world.
My images have hung in various shows at Brookdale Community College and at the Middletown Public Library, with the Monmouth Camera Club (of which I'm a member). I've recently been chosen for the July, 2007, exhibit at the Twisted Tree Cafe (twistedtreecafe.com) in Asbury Park, NJ.
(About the photo: My brush with celebrity--Bruce Springsteen showed up at our 40th HS reunion and in between all the requests for photos with Bruce...I had a friend snap this one.)
